Profession + Passion: Once I relit the fire within me for my love of puppetry and honed my skills with various forms of technology, I began a new endeavor that I choose to call "Tra-Digital Storytelling." This project is a blend of where and what our students know in this digital world with traditional storytelling or stories using puppets created through hands-on projects and learning building skills. There is just something about listening to a good story. Whether it is a monologue, a picture book or a puppet show, a good story goes a long way. Many of our young people have not been exposed to or have had the luxury of hearing some of the great old tales that I heard as a child. We need to transport children and adults of all ages back to the wondrous world of stories and storytelling. Through the series, "Tra-Digital Storytelling," I have had the pleasure of teaching workshops to teachers that bring storytelling and digital tools together and have seen how these tools and techniques are taken back to their classrooms with excitement. Tra-Digital Storytelling fits into the STEM and STEAM world!!
I have assisted with and participated in several puppetry festivals, allowing me to share my love of puppetry with people of all ages. I have been a workshop presenter, arts and craft facilitator, puppet games coordinator, website administrator, emcee and performer. I have even performed shows for students at the schools where I work. This was a true pleasure and brought me great joy to see the students so excited!! They now call me "The Puppet Lady," and not the "Computer Lady!" I LOVE IT!!!
